This quiet, beautiful cabin on ~20 acres has mountain views from every window. Designed by the owner and built in 2004 as a part-time retreat, it has provided a healing respite. The roof and sides are corrugated metal for nice looks and easy upkeep. There's a front and back porch. There are two 500 gallon cisterns, and a solar panel for power. The home is heated by a woodstove and has a storage loft up above. The light colored pine floors are especially noteworthy. The cabin was built with an eye to the placement of windows and doors. The east-facing window brings morning light. There's a window at the kitchen sink, and large windows perpendicular to each other (S. and E.) which the owner observed in Georgia O'Keefe's house. A smaller window, not to overheat, faces west. The grounds are graced with an apricot tree, an amur maple that began life as a bonsai, iris, and a climbing rose. (Ample native vegetation too.) Cacti found on the property have been re-planted into Spring-blooming cacti gardens, one enclosed by a willow fence (great place to sit and take in the views). There are mountain and sunset views from the front and back porches. Perhaps best of all are the mountain vistas to the South, enjoyed from the couch while you are warmed by the wood stove.
